NORFOLK - Mrs. Theresa Carty Butt, 73, of 3401 Willard Place, the wife of James 
Anthony Butt, died Tuesday in a hospital.

A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was a past president of Thomas E. Coale Lumber 
Co. of Va., Inc. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and its 
Woman’s Club and a past president of the Sodality.

Besides her husband, survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Marie Theresa 
Kingsbury, Mrs. Mary Clare Pinard, Mrs. Betty Jean Williams, and Mrs. Carolyn 
Virginia Pearson of Norfolk, and Mrs. Dorothy Ann Robinson of Salisbury, Md.; and 
a son, James Anthony Butt Jr. of Virginia Beach.

A Christian Wake service will be said Thursday at 8 p.m. in H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic 
Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
