Virginian Pilot June 29, 1971

Mrs. Mary Johnson Byrd of 1328 Ann St. died Sunday in a hospital after a short 
illness. She was a retired practical nurse. 
A native of Edenton, N.C., she was the widow of Dennis Byrd and a daughter of 
the late William and Mrs. Mary Skinner Johnson. 
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and its No. 1 Choir.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Joyce Bembry of Washington; and two nephews, William 
M. Johnson Jr. and Bernard H. Johnson of Norfolk.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church 
with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Riddick Funeral Service has charge.
