Byrd, 73, of the 100 block of East Chester St., went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2001. Mrs. Byrd was a native of Laurel, Mont. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk and volunteered for Holy Trinity Bingo for several years. Survivors include her husband, John T. Byrd Jr.; three daughters, Kathy Flora and her husband Joe, Linda Hussey and her husband Burt, and Chrissy Whitford and her husband Tony, all of Norfolk; three sons, John T. Byrd III of Norfolk, Daniel Byrd of Portsmouth, and Mike Byrd of Norfolk; one sister and two brothers of Montana; five grandchildren, David Byrd, Brandy and Billy Hussey, Anthony and Noah Whitford; and one great-grandson, Daniel Byrd. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by the Rev. Wayne Ball. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Romania Mission Fund, 1127 Tallwood St., Norfolk, VA 23518. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
