She was the wife of Martin O. Cahill. Mrs. Cahill, a licensed practical nurse for 23 years, had retired from Humana Hospital Bayside after seven years on the staff. She was a graduate of Maury High School and the Leigh Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She also was a naturalist, and her self-taught interests included botany, ornithology and ichthyology. Other survivors include a daughter, Loretta Ann Cahill, and two sons, John Burke Cahill and William Hopkins Cahill, all of Virginia Beach; five sisters, Anne Miller of Bedford Mills, N.Y., Patricia Pittman and Sudie Mae McCaskey, both of Norfolk, Barbara Smithwick of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Nancy H. Dunn of Virginia Beach; two brothers, William Henry Hopkins III, of Arlington and Jack Simpson of Norfolk; and nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk, with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, in charge. After the funeral, the family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Pittman Jr., 1127 Cambridge Crescent, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Joy Fund.
