IRA CAHOON DIED SUDDENLY Stricken With Heart Failure Near Tanners Creek, Died On Trolley Car Mrs. Annie Virginia Cahoon died very suddenly on one of the Atlantic Terminal company's cars en route from Tanner's Creek Bridge to Norfolk Sunday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock. Mrs. Cahoon was taken suddenly ill of heart trouble at Atlantic Park, near Tanners Creek and was placed on a car for the purpose of being taken to St. Vincent's Hospital and expired in about twenty minutes. Dr. Charles K.T. Lowndes, surgeon of the battleship Virginia, was a passenger on the car and did what he could to relieve her condition, but without avail. When the remains reached Norfolk and were viewed by Coroner Kight, he decided an inquest unnecessary and they were taken to the morgue by the St. Vincent Hospital ambulance, where they were later turned over to Funeral Director J.R. Williams, of Berkley Ward, for burial. Mrs. Cahoon, who was accompanied by Benson McCune, a young man who lives in her home, was en route to visit her relative, Mrs. Joe Allen, near Tanner's Creek, who had been ill. Mrs. Cahoon had been subject to attacks of heart failure several years. The deceased resided with several of her children at 23 State Street, Berkley Ward, and was well known and respected. She was a widow of the late Capt. Iredell Cahoon and had been a resident of Berkley 16 years and was a native of Nansemond County, Va. She is survived by six children. She was 49 years old. The funeral will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock and Rev. C.L. Bane, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church, will officiate. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
