Norfolk Journal and Guide, Mar 4, 1961
A funeral service was held Sunday at Graves Funeral Home for Edward Caine, 63, 
of 623 Goff street, who died in a local hospital on Feb. 23.

The service was conducted by the Rev. S. A. Wilson, pastor of New Calvary 
Baptist Church.  Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.  A native of Scotland Neck, 
where he was a member of Cherry’s Chapel Baptist Church.  Mr. Caine lived in 
Norfolk 19 years.

He was the son of the late Samuel Caine and Mrs. Elizabeth Caine.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Caine;  a stepmother, Mrs. Carrie Caine;  
two sons, Edward Caine Jr. of Norfolk and Jimmie Caine of Seattle, WA;  two 
daughters, Mrs. Cora Lee Hoskins and Mrs. Betty Mae Matthews of Norfolk;  four 
sisters, Misses Lillian, Etta Mae and Edna Caine and Mrs. Helen Saunders of 
Norfolk;  and six brothers, Oscar Caine of Tarboro, NC, and Samuel, Ashley, 
Lester, James and McKinley Caine of Norfolk.
