He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Caldwell, of Norfolk; a longtime friend, Tammy Smith; two sons, Eddie Lee Caldwell, of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and Johnny Caldwell, of West Virginia; two daughters, Cheryl Jean Watson, of Portsmouth, and Diane Caldwell, of Florida; two granddaughters, Holly Marie, of Portsmouth, and Chrystal, of Texas; four sisters, Mary Causer, of Norfolk, Nancy Johnson, of Manteo, N.C., Shirley Hintz, of Monticello, Ind., and Virgie Fraser, of Monticello, Ind.; five brothers, Harry Caldwell, of Monticello, Mark H. Caldwell, of Springfield, Va., Alfred Lawson, of Portsmouth, Sonny Caldwell, of Norfolk, and Bobby Caldwell, of California. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A graveside memorial service will be conducted in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk, at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Military honors will be performed at the grave. After the burial ceremony, friends will be received at 6309 Colgate Ave., Norfolk.
