Mrs. Callahan was the widow of John T. ''Jack'' Callahan, Jr. who predeceased her in 1994. Mrs. Callahan was born in Norfolk and lived here her entire life. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Norfolk in 1943, where she was the valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Callahan had a long successful career with the federal government, beginning in 1943, when she began working at the Port of Embarcation. She worked there until 1953, when she married Jack and they started a family. She returned to work again in 1968, at the Naval Air Rework Facility, and then in 1977, became an EEOC investigator. In 1983 she became a personnel staffing expert, the position from which she retired in 1990. During the mid 1960s, she served as the treasurer for the Council of Catholic Women and most recently performed volunteer work at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was the vice president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). Mrs. Callahan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was the first child baptized in the church at its present location. She was also a member of the Harbor Club. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Margaret Callahan Lyons, of Norfolk; four sons, John T. Callahan, III, of Norfolk, Francis Sullivan ''Sully'' Callahan, of Norfolk, Michael Joseph Callahan, of Westfield, N.J., and Robert Patrick Callahan of New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Margaret Perkins Sullivan, of Virginia Beach, and Rosemary Sullivan Coffman, of El Toro, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Francis John Sullivan Jr. and Philip Joseph Sullivan. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Fr. John J. Dorgan. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Infant Home. H.D.
