Callahan Is Victim of Motor Scooter James Joseph Callahan, 67, of 829 Spotswood Avenue, died today at 12:45 a.m. at De Paul Hospital as the result of injuries received when he was struck by a motor scooter Saturday while crossing Bank Street at Market Street. A resident of Norfolk since he was 14, he founded the Callahan Transfer Company. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Terry Callahan; two sons, James Nugent Callahan and Thomas MacDonald Callahan, all of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Mary McAllister, of Elmhurst, N.Y.; Mrs. Theresa Sherry and Mrs. Elizabeth Versprille, both of Norfolk; a brother, John T. Callahan and a granddaughter, both of Norfolk. His body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments pending funeral arrangements. ************************************************************************** TWO DEATHS IN NORFOLK AREA RAISE STATE ROAD TOLL TO 332 Two deaths in the Norfolk area yesterday raised the 1946 Virginia highway traffic toll to 332. The dead were listed as James Joseph Callahan, 76, of Norfolk, and William R. Holloman, 40, of South Norfolk. Mr. Callahan, founder of the Callahan Transfer Company, died early yesterday morning of injuries received Saturday when he was struck by a "motor-scooter" as he was crossing a Norfolk street.
