H. Calrow. The numerous friends of Mr. James H. Calrow will be p pained to hear of his death, which occurred at the Retreat for the Sick last e evening after a long and painful illness. The deceased was one of the best k known citizens of Norfolk, and a man whose friends were legion. By profession Mr. Calrow was an architect and builder, the latter business having been conducted by him in this city for a number of years. Among the prominent buildings erected by him was the Academy of Music. He was a member of the City Councils some years since and held other public positions, all of which he filled with honor and credit. He had long been a member of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, and a life long Mason, besides which he was a member of other organizations in this city. Mr. Calrow married a daughter of the late William Ashley, whom he survived several years. He leaves no family except an adopted son and daughter, but a host of people who knew and admired h him are left to mourn their loss. Funeral of Mr. J. H. Calrow The funeral services over the remains of the late J J. H. Calrow were held at Freemason Street Baptist Church yesterday afternoon. J J J. Hall, of Park Avenue Church, officiating. The reverend doctor paid a g glowing tribute to the deceased. Atlantic Lodge, No. 1, A. F. & A. M., of which t the deceased was a member, attended in a body and followed the remains to the g grave in Elmwood Cemetery. The pall bearers were: Messrs. S. P. Moore, C. A. Davis, D. C. Lassiter, L. Royster, Fred. Greenwood & James E. Etheridge.
