The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Waters officiated the services. The Rev. Patrick Tierney and Rev. Paul V. Heller were present in the sanctuary. During the service, Mrs. Stark A. Sutton sang, "In The Hour of Trial," with Prof. J. Harvey Stevens at the organ. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies, carnations and ferns. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The pallbearers were A. Panella, J. Vita, J. Constantino, J. Panella, D. Lascara and T. Mastracco. In his address at the conclusion of the mass, Msgr. Waters paid tribute to the Christian life and character of Mr. Candalese and to his devotion to his church and family. Mr. Candalese, son of the late John B. and Victoria Candalese, was a native of Italy and a resident of Norfolk for the past 40 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving him are two sons, Frank Phillip and Joseph V. Candalese, of Norfolk, and a sister, Miss Catherine Candalese, and one brother, Luigi Candalese, both of Italy, and a number of nieces and nephews.
