He had lived in Norfolk and Virginia Beach most of his life and was a World War II veteran. He was a Catholic and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roger E. Smith of Wallops Island and Miss Elisa Cannon of California; three sons, James E. Cannon Jr. of California, Ronnie Cannon of Arizona and Francis Cannon of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mrs. E.R. Donion of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Michael J. Cannon Jr. of Norfolk Edward H. Cannon and Joseph F. Cannon of Virginia Beach and Richard Cannon of Chesapeake; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk.
