Observer March 23, 1967 Mrs. M. K. Cannon, age 89, of 349 Melbourne Court, passed away Tuesday night, March 21, 1967, in a local hospital. She was born August 30, 1877, in Nashville, Tenn., daughter of the late Pleasant Andrew and Martha Thompson Hamilton Smith. Mrs. Cannon was reared in Nashville and was a graduate of Ward-Belmont College in Nashville. She was married to the late M. K. Cannon, who passed away in 1920. She had been a resident of Charlotte since 1929 and was a member of the Church of The Holy Comforter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23rd, from the Church of The Holy Comforter, with the Rev. Floyd W. Finch, Jr., the rector, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24th, at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Va., conducted by the Rev. William Martin. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Martha Cannon of Charlotte; a son, M. K. Cannon, Jr. of Charlotte; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family requests that flowers not be sent. Pallbearers will be P. R. Ashcraft, William C. Cooke, James C. Purnell, Jr., M. Lee Heath, T. Al Browne and J. Edward Beatty. Arrangements by Harry and Bryant.
