Capps, one of the oldest and best known residents of this section, died at his home, Oakland, Lambert's Point, at 11:50 o'clock Wednesday night after a lingering illness in the 77th year of his age. The deceased was a former resident of Portsmouth, but moved to the Norfolk section shortly after the close of the war between the states. He was a man of unflinching integrity and was held in universal esteem throughout this section. His vocation was that of trucker, from which he acquired a considerable fortune. He is survived by a widow and three children- Admiral W.L. Capps, chief of the bureau of construction and repair of the United States Navy; John Talbot Capps, of Princess Anne County and Mrs. John D. Couper, of this city, who were with him during his last illness. The funeral and interment will be private.
