The deceased was born in North Carolina but had been a resident of Norfolk for twenty-eight years and was well known and highly esteemed as a citizen. He is survived by a widow, one daughter, Miss Georgia L. Capps; three brothers, Moses Capps and W.D. Capps, of Norfolk and L.T. Capps, of Washington, D.C. and an only sister, Mrs. Janie Bullman, of Norfolk. He was a member of Atlantic Lodge of Masons, Harmony Lodge of Odd Fellows, Wyandotte Tribe of Red Men, Junior Order United American Mechanics, Daughters of America and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. ************************************************************************* CAPPS - At his residence, No. 821 East Highland Avenue, Thursday, March 11, 1909, at 8 a.m. o'clock, JEROME CAPPS, in the 49th year of his age. The funeral will take place from the above residence THIS (Sunday) AFTERNOON, March 14th, at 3 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. Virginian Pilot March 14, 1909 ********************************************************************** The funeral of Jerome Capps was solemnized from his late residence, 321 East Highland Avenue, Brambleton, Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. The following organizations being present: Masons, Odd Fellows, Red Men, Jr. O.U.A.M., Daughters of America and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. The obsequies were conducted by Rev. F.C. Steinmetz, of Christ Episcopal Church. There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: Grice Commandry Knights Templar - A. Tatem and John Waldus. Locomotive Engineers- W.H. Wassum and W.H.L. Cornick. Harmony Lodge Odd Fellows - C.J. Holland. Wyandotte Tribe, Red Men - R.P. Howe Industry Council, Jr. O.U.A.M. - D.E. Williams. Daughters of America - J.E. Clubb.
