CAPPS, RETIRED N&W PAINTER, DIES Lee Washington Capps, 88, retired railway painter, died in a Norfolk nursing home Wednesday at 5:45 a.m. after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, lately at 1013 Creamer Road. He was a son of Andrew and Mrs. Mary Ball Capps and the husband of Mrs. Margaret M. Capps. He was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church and was a retired painter from the Norfolk & Western Railway. In addition to his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Porter of Falls Church and Mrs. Carrie M. Wilson of Warner Robins, Ga.; two sons, James Wright Capps and Benjamin Franklin Capps of Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Woodard of Norfolk and Mrs. Lilly Harris of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two stepsons, Edward Woodard of Maple, N.C. and Ashburn Woodard of Norfolk; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at Derry-Twiford Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. R.S. Carlton, pastor of Brentwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
