Genevieve L. Caprio, 98, of the 9500 block of Wells Pkwy., died Jan. 31, 2001.

Mrs. Caprio was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Michael R. Caprio Sr. She was 
a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk since 1942. Until recently she 
had been very active in local civic organizations. She was a former Judge for the 
Ocean View Voting Precinct, a past president of the Ocean View Garden Club, and 
had done extensive volunteer work for both Holy Trinity Catholic School and 
Norfolk Catholic High School.

Survivors include her sons, Capt. Michael R. Caprio Jr. of La Mesa, Calif., Dr. 
John T. Caprio of Baton Rouge, La.; her five grandchildren, Laura Caprio Dwyer, 
Michael R. Caprio III, Emma-Lee Prince Caprio , Ellen Marie Caprio , Matthew 
Caprio ; six great-grandchildren; and her three sisters-in-law, Louise Harrington 
of Tavales, Fla., Virginia Leinenbach and Thelma Snyder, both of Portsmouth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at 
Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Father Lou Ruoff. Burial will follow at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. 
Monday before the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made 
to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 175 West Government Ave., Norfolk, VA 23503. 
H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
