Norfolk Virginian Pilot July 25, 1943

Miss Rachel Mary Carey, aged 83, daughter of the late Thomas Patrick Carey and 
Mrs. Margaret Murray Carey, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, died at 
8:15 o'clock yesterday morning at the residence, 202 Regent Road, Belvedere. 
Surviving are four nieces, Mrs. E.R. Coffman, Mrs. F.J. Bridges and Misses 
Margaret and Ernestine Carey; two nephews, L.V. and Richard S. Carey; a great-
niece, Carey Stuart Bridges and a grand-nephew, Frank J. Bridges.
Miss Carey was a member of the Sodality of the Virgin Mary.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
Avenue, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, for services tomorrow 
morning at 9:30 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services 
will be held at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7:30 o'clock.

Miss Rachel Mary Carey — Funeral services for Miss Carey, who died Saturday at 
the residence, 202 Regent road, Belvedere, were held at 9:30 o’clock yesterday 
morning at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, with the Rev. R. B. Kealey, 
pastor, officiating. The Rev. Francis Bradican was present in the sanctuary. 
Several selections were played on the organ during the service by Mrs. W. P. 
Murphy. 
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were Thomas J. O’Connor, 
Harry J. Frantz, Clarence M. Barrett, Julius G. Lohman, William G. Thompson, Jr. 
and C. Carey Aydelotte.
