He was a lumber broker, a native of Chicago, but had been a resident of Norfolk seven years. He was the son of the late C.R. and Mrs. Mary Goehring Carpenter, and is survived by a son, Charles Clinton Carpenter; a daughter, Miss Ruth Wilmot Carpenter and three sisters, Miss Lula E. Carpenter and Mrs. Minnie Stanford, of Sebastopol, Cal. and Mrs. W.D. Crompton, Naugatuck, Conn. Funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
