M. L. Beaman, pastor of the St. Thomas AME Church officiating. He was born in Morehead City, NC, a son of Jack and Mrs. Irene Carraway. He lived in Norfolk 40 years and was employed by the city of Norfolk until he became disabled. He died May 5 in a nursing home. He had formerly made his home 1371 Chicazola street. Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Smith, Chicago, IL; and Mrs. Mary J. Roberts, Boston MA; one brother Edward Carraway, East Orange, NJ; a niece, Mrs. Gladys Hunter, and one nephew, Felix Carraway, both of Norfolk. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery and the Corprew Funeral Home, Campostella, was in charge.
