Carrick, aged 75, a native and life-long resident of Norfolk, died at his residence, 2203 Carolina avenue, East Fairmount Park, last night at 8:45 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Laylor Carrick; a daughter, Mrs. Mittie Meeks, of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a charter member of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O.E. The body was taken to H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason street, pending funeral arrangements. ************************ Funeral service were held Thursday February 2, 1933 at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments with the Rev. Taylor Willis, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Rev. E.P. Miner, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, officiating. A delegation from Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O.Elks, was in attendance and conducted ritual services at the grave. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were T.J. Hanlon, W.E. Doherty, John A. Butt, W.T. Hill, George Loyall, D.H. Olmstead, W.P. White, W.L. Inman and George Purnell.
