A native of Opelousas, La., he was a son of Ernest Carriere and the late Mrs. Constance Carriere. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the YMCA. Besides his widow and father, surviving are a stepson, Billy Owens of Ft. Belvoir; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Valentine of San Diego, Calif.; five brothers, Jean Carriere, Ernest Carriere, and Walter Carriere of Lake Charles, La., Lennit Carriere of Opelousas, and Elderidge Carriere of Thomasville, Ga.; two sisters, Miss Stella Carriere of Opelousas and Mrs. Wilda Leonard of Elton, La.; and four grandchildren. The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home.
