On June 20, 2015, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bernard was educated in the Halifax County school system. At an early age, he joined Cross Roads Baptist Church. He later moved to Norfolk in the early 90s. Bernard joined the International Longshoreman Local 1458/1736 in 1993 and served 23 dedicated years. In 1999 Bernard met the love of his life, Andrea Epps, fell in love, married in May 2003, and together they raised two amazing children, Ashalae and Andrew Smith. Bernard was a member of Faith In Action Church in Norfolk, where he served in several positions. Bernard leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Andrea Carrington; two children, Andrew Smith and Ashalae Smith, all of Chesapeake; his mother, Mrs. Bonnie Carrington, of South Boston; grandparents Henry and Nannie Link of Alton; three aunts, Madeline Scott of Camden, South Carolina, Dolores Green of Alton and Wanda Tucker of South Boston; five uncles, Junious "Pete" Carrington of South Boston, Otis Carrington of Turbeville, Gregory Carrington (Verna) of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Barry Link (Tracy) of Durham, North Carolina, David Link and Michael Link, both of Alton; father-in-law, Zonnie Epps, (Phyllis); brother-in- law Zonnie Epps; two sisters-in-law, Shaneisha and Sharonda Epps; a niece, Destiny Mabry; a nephew, Asauntae Durant-Epps; a God-brother, Warner Roach; and a host of other devoted relatives, God children and friends. He was predeceased in death by his father, Mr. Bernard Carrington Sr., mother- in-law Wanda Epps and grandparents Otis and Willie Carrington. A funeral service for Mr. Carrington was held Monday, June 29, 2015, at Faith In Action Church, Norfolk with Pastor Marvin L. Smith officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Norfolk.
