Virginian-Pilot, November 5, 1909
John Thomas Carroll died at the home of William Oliver, in Norfolk County, at 4 
o'clock yesterday morning after an illness of two years, in the 87th year of 
his age. The deceased was a native of Washington, D.C., and is survived by a 
widow. The funeral will be held from Oliver's farm at 10:30 a.m. today and will 
be conducted by Rev. Father Edward J. Walsh of St. Mary's Catholic  Church. The 
interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
