Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark January 30, 1928

Mrs. Josephine Estelle Carroll, aged 67, died at her residence, 1813 
Willoughby avenue, yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock after a long illness.  
She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Anne Foster, a native of Norfolk and 
had resided here all her life.  Surviving her are four daughters, Mrs. 
Walter Culpepper, Mrs. L.D. Kight and Mrs. Eugene Vellines, of Norfolk and 
Mrs. Levin Rawls, of Jacksonville, Fla; three sons, Herbert C. Arthur B. and 
Frank L. Carroll, all of Norfolk; three brothers, W.W. Foster, of Richmond; 
W.A. Foster of Norfolk and the Rev. John T. Foster, of Winona, Miss., 22 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be 
conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the funeral home of James V. 
Derry, 346, West Princess Anne Road.  The Rev. S.W. Joiner, of the Church of 
God Chapel, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
