 The Virginian Pilot Saturday January 17, 1959
Mrs. Dorothy Tufts Carter, 51, wife of Edwin C. Carter, died at a Norfolk 
hospital Friday at 9:45 p,m,
Besides her husband, she is survived by two cousins, Mrs. George Miller of 
Virginia Beach and Miss Margaret M. Lackey of Lexington, and an aunt, Miss 
Mary L. Laird of Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Carter was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, residing at 1414 Monterey 
ave.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  She was in the 
employ of The Pullman Company for 17 years and was co-owner of Hines-Carter-
Derring florists.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Sunday 
at 3 p.m.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
