Norfolk Virginian Pilot Saturday July 25, 1942
Mrs. Annie Louise McLean Carter, widow of Richard D. Carter and daughter of 
the late William J. and Mrs. Belinda Waterfield McLean, a native and life-
long resident of Norfolk, died at 7 a.m. at the residence, 1501 Norview 
avenue, Willoughby Beach.
She is survived by two sons, Cecil McLean Carter and William D. Carter, of 
Norfolk; four daughters, the Misses Linda L., Virginia Lee and Marjorie 
Estelle Carter, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Earl T. Cooke, of Richmond; two 
grandchildren; two brothers, William J. McLean, of Hot Springs, Ark., and 
Herbert O. McLean, of Miami, Fla; two sisters, Miss Bessie McLean, of 
Pocomoke, Md., and Mrs. W.L. Lyman, of Washington, D.C., and a number of 
nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 
1501 Colonial avenue, Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. John F. 
Ward, rector of the Church of the Ascension, officiating. Remains will be 
taken to Washington, D.C., for cremation.
