Carter, aged 59 years, died at his home yesterday morning at 7 o’clock at Mount Pleasant, Norfolk county, after a lingering illness of several months. The deceased was one of the best-known men in that section of the county, and for quite a number of years was prominently identified with the straightout movement in Norfolk county until his health would not permit longer service. He served on the county committee with much ability and distinction. When a young man, he was one of the foremost truckers and conducted a farm near the Indian Toll bridge, Washington district. He sold this and purchased the place where he lived at the time of his death. The deceased leaves a widow, one daughter, Mrs. W. B. Fentress, of Brambleton; two sons, J. B. Carter, of Mt. Pleasant, and William Carter, of Currituck, N.C. The funeral will be conducted from Mt. Pleasant church this afternoon at 1 o’clock and the interment will be in the family burial ground at that place. Additional Comments: Based on this newspaper article, his date of death would have been on the 7th. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
