VIRGINIA BEACH - Richard Grey Carter Sr., 86, of 694 Bayway Road, the husband of 
Mrs. Gatha Louise Burgess Carter and a native of Edenton, N.C., died Thursday 
night in a hospital.
He lived here most of his life and worked for the City of Virginia Beach 
Mosquito Control as superintendent, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of 
Virginia Beach Masonic Lodge 274 and was a Baptist.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marionette C. Fitzgerald of Norfolk; a 
son, Richard G. Carter Jr. of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Lynnhaven Chapel, by the Rev. William C. Logan. Burial, with Masonic rites, will 
be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be sent to the Virginia 
Beach Rescue Squad.
