Gatha L. Carter , 97, of the 600 block of Bayway Road, died Wednesday at her 
daughter's residence in Chesapeake.



Mrs. Carter was born in Norfolk and was the widow of Richard Gray Carter Sr.



Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Marionette L. Fitzgerald of 
Chesapeake; her five grandchildren, Earlene L. Holton and Richard G. Carter 
III, both of Virginia Beach, Gatha M. Moore, Janet L. Fitzgerald and Margaret 
E. Stout, all of Chesapeake; and her four great-grandchildren.



A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery, 
Norfolk, by the Rev. Tom Mercer. Oman Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge.
