Virginian Pilot Monday January 10, 1944
William Danbrooke Carter, aged 48, husband of Mrs. Irene Cherricks Carter, and 
son of the late Richard Danbrooke and Mrs. Louise McLean Carter, a lifelong 
resident of this section, died at the residence, 6120 Eastwood Terrace, 
yesterday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock. Besides his wife, Mrs. Irene Cherricks 
Carter, he is survived by one son, William Danbrooke Carter, Jr., of Norfolk; 
four sisters, Misses Linda L., and Virginia L. Carter, both of Norfolk, Miss 
Marjorie E. Carter, of Valdosta, Ga., and Mrs. Earle T. Cooke, of Richmond, and 
one brother, Cecil McLean Carter, of Norfolk.
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, pending arrangements.
