This will be taken care of by the superintendent of the Union mission. "The report that Lucy Carter was an unchaste girl," said Mr. Ashley yesterday, "is a base falsehood. It was a pity that such a young girl should have died from neglect. She told me on her dying bed that rather than sacrifice her honor she fled from a certain house and took refuge in the house where she contracted the illness which resulted in her death. "They can say nothing against that poor girl. Her honor was at stake and she fought a fight that cost her her life. She went to her maker a pure woman."
