The Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 15, 1934
Mrs. Susan Alice Carter, aged 56, wife of Lott W. Carter. died at a local 
hospital yesterday morning at 5:35 o'clock after a long illness. Besides her 
husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. W.H. Gross; three sons, V.B. 
Campbell and R.C. and L.W. Carter, Jr., all of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. W.E. 
Hendricks, of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. J.L. Sowell of Kershaw, S.C., Mrs. L.W. 
West, of Chester, S.C. and Mrs. Sallie Pitts of Westville, S.C.; five brothers, 
J.H. Seegars of Arkansas, Edward Seegars of Florida, Alex Seegars of Louisana, 
and Henry and Richard Seggars, both of South Carolina; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a native of South 
Carolina and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 32 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
