Norfolk - James L. Carter Jr., of the 6800 block of Glenoak Drive, died April
26,1986, in a nursing home.

Mr. Carter, a Norfolk native, was a former employee of the Norfolk Naval
Station. He had retired from Economy Stores after 11 years. He was a member of
Shiloh Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had attended
Norfolk State University and the Computer Program Institute of Virginia.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Hamilton Carter; a son, Terry Carter of Newport
News; and his father, Willie B. Carter.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Shiloh Baptist Church by
the Rev. John H. Foster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be
placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. by Graves Funeral Home.

The family will be at the residence.
