Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, April 15, 1993 
John N. Carter Sr., of the 800 block of Hayes St., a retired chauffeur, died
April 13, 1993.

Mr. Carter was born in Tallahassee, Fla., and reared in Garland, N.C. He was a
member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk and the Orioles Social Club. He
retired in 1961 from the Norfolk Naval Base after 42 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carter; one son, John Carter Jr. of Baltimore;
one sister, Hannah Jane Carter of Garland; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in New Calvary Baptist Church by
the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will
assemble at the residence. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m.
Saturday. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
