Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 3, 1953

Mrs. Lillian Smith Cartwright, of Route 1, Lynnhaven, died at the Virginia 
Beach Hospital Tuesday at 11:53 p.m. after an illness of four days.  A 
native of Norfolk, she had resided at Lynnhaven for 20 years.  She was the 
widow of John E. Cartwright and daughter of the late William Henry and Mrs. 
Mary Elizabeth Phillips Smith.  She was a member of Kempsville Baptist 
Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. C.C. Frizzell, of Bayside, Princess Anne 
County and Mrs. R.E. Mayes of Lynnhaven.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home tomorrow at 2 
p.m. by the Rev. Arnold B. Blount, pastor of Kempsville Baptist Church.  
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
