Virginian Pilot January 1, 1961

James E. Cartwright, 60, of 1354 Chapel St., died Friday afternoon in a Norfolk 
hospital after a short illness.
He was a son of Clennie and Mrs. Bessie Cartwright and was born in Norfolk. He 
had been employed by Norfolk & Western Railway. 
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dorah Ann Cartwright; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn 
Gunn of Portsmouth, three sisters, Mrs. Edith Aulmand of South Norfolk, Mrs. 
Bessie Scutchins of Princess Anne County and Mrs. Ethel Harris of Norfolk; four 
brothers, Willie Cartwright of Princess Anne County, Earl D. Cartwright of 
Norfolk, Horace Cartwright of Washington and Frank Cartwright of Norfolk and 
four grandchildren.
The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 
in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, of which he was a member, Wednesday at 1 p.m. by 
the Rev. F.P. Wise, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
