Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark October 23, 1928

John Ernest Cartwright, aged 51, died at a local hospital, yesterday afternoon 
at 1 o'clock after a short illness.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian M. 
Cartwright; a daughter, Mrs. W.M. McCauley, of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Kemmett 
Cartwright, of Norfolk; two brothers, W.E. and Benjamin Cartwright and a 
grandson, Robert Cartwright, all of Norfolk.  Mr. Cartwright was a native of 
North Carolina and had been a resident of Princess Anne County for the last 40 
years.  He was a member of the Kempsville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence, Virginia Beach Boulevard, 
Princess Anne County, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.  Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
