Cartwright of 1424 Centerville Turnpike, the husband of Mrs. Virginia N. Cartwright, died in a hospital after a short illness. A native of Norfolk County, he was a son of the late Clennie and Mrs. Bessie Cartwright. He worked for the Norfolk Division of Parks and Forestry 10 years. He was a member of the Deacon’s Board of First Baptist Church, Campostella. Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vera C. Jordan and Mrs. Mildred C. Harold of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Earl Cartwright of Virginia Beach and Frank Cartwright of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Allmond of Chesapeake, Mrs. Bessie Scutching of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Ethel Harris of Norfolk and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held in First Baptist Church, Campostella, by the Rev. Joseph Myers. Burial was in the family plot of Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk, with Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, in charge.
