Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, February 26, 2003 
VIRGINIA BEACH - Mildred K. Cartwright , of the 100 block of Ferry Point Road, 
passed away peacefully at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Feb. 20, 2003.

A daughter of the late Willie Mae Bland and Moses Thomas, she was the widow of 
Earl Cartwright . ``Mother Dear'' as she was so fondly called, retired from 
Sentara Norfolk General as a nursing assistant after 30 years of service.

She is survived by two daughters, Derrell Mabry Turner (Richard) and Audrey 
Mabry Harmon (Stanley); one granddaughter, Tiffany Hunter; a grandson, Troy 
Artis; a niece, Juanita Thomas; three nephews, Clarence Harris, Edgar Pledger 
and Reginald Thomas; a devoted daughter-in-law, Verlean McNeal; and a host of 
nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be held Thursday at noon in Graves Funeral Chapel with the Rev. 
Joseph Starchia officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The 
family will receive friends at the residence.
