Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 6, 1949

William Edward Cartwright, 75, husband of Mrs. Olivia Murrell Cartwright, died 
at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 8:10 p.m. Besides his wife, he is survived by 
a daughter, Mrs. Elnora C. Anderson; two sons, William E. and Leroy A. 
Cartwright, all of Norfolk; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Cartwright was a native of Camden County, N.C. and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 55 years. He was in the grocery business for 40 years and retired 
about 10 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle.
The body was taken to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home.

William Edward Cartwright - Funeral services for Mr. Cartwright were conducted 
at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home yesterday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. John A. 
Morgan, pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle, and the Rev. R.F. Mashburn, pastor of 
the Lavender Pentecostal Holiness Church. Pallbearers were J.H. and F.H. 
Drumwright, J.P. Ashley, M.N. Parrish, M.P. Williams and H.L. Yates. Burial was 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
