Catherine Louise Carty, 96, daughter of the late Robert J. and Mary Alice Carty, 
died Oct. 20, 1999, in Pinewood Inn Retirement Residence.

She was a 1921 graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Norfolk, and she was predeceased by 
two sisters, Regina Carty Scott and Theresa Carty Butt; and three brothers, 
William Carty, Robert Carty and the Rev. Vincent Carty. She was a member of Christ 
the King Catholic Church in Norfolk.

Survivors include five nieces, Marie Carty Gelermino of Harventon, Conn., Mary 
Claire Pinard, Betty Williams, Dorothy Robinson and Carolyn Pearson, all of 
Norfolk; one nephew, Richard Carty of Hudson, Fla.; 12 great-nieces; and 14 great-
nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King 
Catholic Church by the Rev. Brian Rafferty. Burial will follow at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church at 3:30 p.m. 
Sunday followed by a Christian prayer service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, 
memorial donations may be made to the Christ the King Catholic Church Building 
Fund.
