Virginian-Pilot, November 03, 1899

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah F. Carty was held from the residence of her son-in-
law, Mr. James O. Thomas, No. 142 Maltby Avenue, Brambleton Ward, at 3:30 
o’clock yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. The services were 
conducted by Rev. E.B. Hatcher, of the First Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. 
Edward Mack, D.D., of the First Presbyterian Church. The interment was in 
Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the pall-bearers: Messrs. Robert Stephen, H.J. 
Williamson, C.J. Creekmore, James Petree, Howard S. Vaughan and Colonel Walter 
H. Taylor.
