The funeral of Mrs. John C. Cashin was held from St. Mary's Catholic church, of 
which the deceased was a devout member, at 10 o'clock a.m. yesterday and was 
attended by a large concourse of her friends and acquaintances. Solemn requiem 
mass for the repose of the soul was celebrated with Rev. Father Joseph Frioli, 
brother of the deceased, as the celebrant; Rev. Charles K. Donohue, of Portsmouth, 
deacon; Rev. R. A. Drake, of the Sacred Heart church, Norfolk, sub-deacon and Rev. 
Edward J. Walsh, assistant pastor of St. Mary's church, Norfolk, master of 
ceremonies.

During the service at the church the following pastors occupied seats in the 
sanctuary: Rev. E. Teirney, of Lynchburg; Rev. M. J. Ahern, of Old Point Comfort 
College.; Rev. J. J. Massie, of Newport News; Rev. M. J. Haier, of Portsmouth; 
Rev. T. J. Wilson, of Old Point Comfort; Rev. E. Houlihan, of Norfolk; Rev. J. A. 
Kelliher, of Berkley, and Rev. M. Gleason, chaplain of St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Rev. John J. Doherty, of St. Mary’s church, paid a beautiful and eloquent tribute 
to the life and Christian virtues of the deceased.

The interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery and the pall-bearers were: Thomas S. 
Fitzgibbon, M. J. Murphy, John A. Beecher, John Milan, David McHugh, John F. 
Lawler, M. T. Friary and W. F. Long.

There was a wealth of beautiful floral tributes, the casket being covered with a 
lovely pall of smilax, white roses and lilies of the valley. Mrs. James Hughes 
sang “Nearer My God to Thee."
