Casper died at his late residence at midnight, after an illness of several years. For more than 30 years, he was engaged in the barber business and catered to the leading white trade of the city. His funeral will be held from the residence Friday, August 1, at 1 o’clock. Archdeacon B. W. Harris, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, will officiate. Interment will take place in the family plot in West Point Cemetery. Mr. Casper was born in Windsor, NC, but came to Norfolk more than 55 years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hane Thomas Casper; one grandchild, Mrs. Charlina O. Smith; several cousins, including Mrs. Malinda Hoggard of Berkley Ward, Messrs. Thomas, David, Wright, and Charles Cherry. Mr. Casper would have been 81 years of age had he lived until August 1.
