Norfolk Virginian April 12, 1887
The funeral of Mrs. Mary M. Cavender, wife of Mr. M. H. Cavender, took place 
yesterday afternoon from her residence, No. 155 Bermuda street. The deceased died 
on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from Bright’s kidney disease, after having been seriously 
sick twelve days. The sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Jones, of the Cumberland 
Street Baptist Church. The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Wm. Walker, 
B. Butt, C. Hodges, H. A. Tarrell, D. Etheridge and W. A. Cooke.
