She was a native of Washington, DC, and the daughter of the late Bernard Kellogg and Ethel Colson Newman and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Jesus C. Champaco and her son Jesse Champaco. Mrs. Champaco attended Christopher Newport College. She retired from DePaul Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse after 12 years employment. She was a Roman Catholic and a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was past president and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association and a past president of the Norfolk Kiwanis Club. Survivors include her loving children; Rita Duke and her husband Bill of Wimberly, Texas, Diane Collins and her husband Steve, of Hampton, Virginia, Theresa Champaco of Chesapeake, VA., Cecelia Myers of Port Charlotte, Florida, Bertha Pinkerton and her husband Bruce of Norfolk, Mary McCluskey and her husband Mike of Norfolk, Virginia Mitchell and her husband James of Fredericksburg, VA, Venancio Champaco and his wife Mary Kay of Virginia Beach, David Champaco and his wife Sandy of Crestview, Florida and Martin Champaco of Norfolk., 27 grandchildren, 33 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Joseph H. Metzger, III, will officiate. Entombment will be private in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Norfolk chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
