L. H. Chandler The funeral solemnities of this gentle man took place from his late residence on York street yesterday afternoon and were attended by the members of the Bar of Norfolk and a large concourse of our citizens. The impressive service of the Episcopal Church was read by Rev. Dr. Okeson, followed by an earnest prayer from Rev. Dr. Thomas. The corpse was then taken in charge by eight colored men and borne to the hearse, attended by the following pallbearers: Judge Geo. Blow, Colonel Wm. Lamb, Captain H. B. Nichols, Captain W. E. Taylor, L. Harmanson, Charles Sharpe and A. G. Holliday. The solemn cortege, consisting of a long train of carriages and many citizens on foot, proceeded to Elm Wood Cemetery, where, to the solemn rites of the dead, the mortal remains of the Hon. L. H. Chandler were committed to the earth to await the descent of the judgment angel and the trumpet of God to awake him on the resurrection morn.
