Born and raised in Norfolk, he was predeceased by his parents, Webster Monroe Chandler Jr. and Nancy Outland Chandler, and his brother William Outland Chandler. He is survived and very sorely missed by his wife of more than 45 years, Lisa Fay Smith Chandler; his children: Whitney Deal Chandler of Norfolk and Brynn Lee Chandler Noel of San Francisco, CA and her husband William Hayes Noel; and his beloved grandchildren: Evelyn Monroe Noel, Hayes Chandler Noel, and Emily Fay Noel. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Deal Chandler and her husband Paul Pomplun of Suffolk, VA and his brother John Maddox Chandler and his wife Charlotte Webb Chandler of Norfolk, sister-in-law Devri Lee Smith of Mitchellville, MD, brother-in-law Craig Dennis Kildall of Manassas, VA; four cherished nieces and one great-niece; and dear friends, too many to mention. He grew up in the Larchmont and Edgewater neighborhoods of the city and resided there until his death. Web attended Larchmont Elementary School, Norfolk Academy, and graduated from Maury High School. He attended the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and enjoyed life at its Rugby Road house. He later attended Hofstra University and subsequently graduated from Old Dominion University. He also served in the United States Coast Guard. Web founded Hague Antiques and enjoyed collecting and selling. He joined his mother's real estate company, the largest in Norfolk, then named Nancy Chandler Associates, in 1978, and ultimately purchased the Company and became President and Principal Broker, later rebranding as Chandler Realty Inc, and then spinning off a separate company Chandler Property Management, LLC. In 2019, Web merged his companies with Rose & Womble Realty, but he still led their Norfolk Office, operating as Chandler Realty. Web retired shortly thereafter. In 2023, Chandler Realty merged into RW Towne Realty, the top real estate firm in southeastern Virginia. During Web's time as a real estate broker, he was known by his team as a superb manager and leader of sales agents and was an expert at both calming the waters and closing the deal of the most challenging real estate transactions. Web's life was anchored by his soulmate and wife, Lisa. They had a loving family life together, including a passion for protecting the environment and chocolate Labrador retrievers, especially their current Lab, Teague. They enjoyed hosting wild duck dinners for family and friends and traveling extensively. Web had many lifelong friendships - from elementary school to his beloved Beta brothers - all deeply treasured. He continued to volunteer on oyster shell recycling projects after retirement. Web loved boating, sailing, crabbing, fishing, and hunting on the Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Bay, Elizabeth River and the mountains of Virginia. Like his father and brothers, he was deeply attached to the Coast Guard Station at Cedar Island and Henry's Point Farm on the Eastern Shore, and to all the families who are part of those cherished places. He was a member the Norfolk German Club, the Pyramid Club, Folly Creek Corporation Board, Monarch Bank Advisory Board, Towne Bank Advisory Board, Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, and was a longstanding member and usher of Church of the Good Shepherd. The family would like to thank all of the dedicated staff at Harbour's Edge Memory Care. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday May 15, 2026 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 7400 Hampton Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23505, with a reception at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club afterwards. Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk, or a charity of your choice. H.D.
