                        MRS. CHAPMAN DIES IN TAMPA
            Former Resident Succumbs to Long Illness At Son's Home

Mrs. Kate Lee Chapman, widow of Algernon W. Chapman, of Norfolk, died at the 
home of her son, Charles H. Chapman, in Tampa, Fla., last night at 10:40 
o'clock, after a lingering illness.  The body will be brought to Norfolk for 
burial.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Mrs. Chapman, who was in her 70th year, was a native of this city and spent 
her life here up to two years ago, when she moved to Tampa. Besides her son 
there, she is survived by another son in Norfolk, William H. Chapman, 
manager here for the Richmond Structural Steel Company and secretary of the 
Norfolk Rotary Club and one brother, William Chapman, of Portsmouth.  She 
was the daughter of William H. and India Guy Chapman.

Mrs. Kate Lee Chapman - Funeral services for Mrs. Chapman, whose death 
occurred last Wednesday night in Tampa, Fla., were held yesterday at noon at 
the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.  The Rev. H.P. Clarke, D.D., pastor of 
the Park Place Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was private in 
Elmwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers were J.R. Guy, Lee S. Guy, Dr. Louis E. Guy, 
W.E. Saunders, Dr. John W. Winston, S.H. McCaleb, Robert F. Saunders and 
Fred Dalby.
